We were taught the basics of carving by using Ivory soap bars and nail files. The soap is soft enough to work with but does give some resistance, and the nail files are sharp enough to cut the soap, but not the boys.
We spread a few old sheets on the deck and started chipping away! The boys used some trucks and their own imagination for models and soon they were surrounded by soap flakes. Definitely an outdoor activity, we were glad for the beautiful weather.
We all had snack and then the boys ran wild and free in the back while the moms had a talk about their expectations and hopes for the club. It was considered a success by all and we were excited by the turnout.
