Hand Tools

So, our second ever Contenders meeting went well! Today's topic was hand tools. We set up stations, and the boys (today we had 10, I think) rotated through each one.

1. Living room: pull nails out of a 2X4 with the claw end of the hammer, and then pound them back into the hole.

2. Sun room: cut a length of insulated wire and strip it, using pliers and wire strippers.

3. Dining room: match sockets with the right socket wrench, match wrenches with the right bolt.

4. Kitchen floor: use screwdrivers to take the bottom off of my vacuum and then (please) put it back on.

Then eat cookies while you listen to the virtue of the meetimg: Proverbs 25:28, Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control.

The boys stayed busy, no pounded thumbs, and they rotated stations well. All in all, I thought it was a success because the siblings were happy under Claire's 'daycare' and the moms got in some decent converstation.
